Project Type: Mews House Area (in sqm): 318
Location: Ranelagh, Dublin 6 Completion: 2007
The house is located on a lane in Ranelagh in what was the rear garden of the client's
original house, a substantial Victorian property which is a protected structure and former Rectory.
The Mews House comprises three storeys. The main living accommodation is located on the upper two levels.
A Games Room and a Hot-tub Room are included in the basement, receiving natural light from a sunken
terrace to the rear of the property. The design features a central stair core with fully glazed roof,
bringing light to the middle of the house. The structure is reinforced concrete, insulated externally, which
exploits the thermal mass of the construction. Externally both walls and roof are finished in a dark grey
large format ceramic tile, giving a clean homogenous wall-to-roof junction, free of visible upstands or parapets.
