Project Type: New library  Area (in sqm): 9,000
Location: Trinity College, Dublin 2  Completion: 2003

The new library consists of three sculptural forms resting on a podium that house respectively book stacks, reading and study areas and the Conservation Departments.

The first two blocks are joined by a fully glazed atrium with link bridges across at each level. All three blocks are connected at ground floor level where the new building connects to the Lecky and Berkeley libraries, forming a "T" shaped plan.

The building has a natural ventilation system that utilises the high atrium to create a stack effect combined with automated venting in the external walls. Natural light is brought right down into the double height basement via the atrium and other feature roof lights.
