KMD entered two proposals in this international competition. The first proposal appears like a ship's hull or a pebble and from a distance reads as a single monolithic form. Its scale and industrial aesthetic reflects on its history and location - on the confluence of the three waterways that were once the gateway for Ireland. The 'pebble' is clad in timber, which will turn silver grey, bleached by the salt air and will form easily around the steel frame to give a homogenous smooth profiled screen.
