KMD Architecture began in Dublin, Ireland in 1954 under the title McCormack Keane & Partners. Trading successfully through the 1950s and mid 1960s the Practice undertook projects predominantly promoted by the State, the Church and Housing for Local Authorities.
From the mid 1960s, known as David Keane & Partners, the Practice served the emerging new commercial opportunities of the time designing speculative office buildings and pioneering the design and implementation of a new phenomenon to Ireland at the time, the shopping centre. Through the 1980s and early 1990s the Practice consolidated and expanded from its core business of speculative commercial and retail into owner-occupier buildings in the commercial, retail and industrial sectors. Currently the Practice operates in all commercial sectors and has a significant residential portfolio. |
